Commentary This leafy semi-rural suburb is located 19 kilometres southwest of Brisbane's CBD.

Brookfield, along with its neighbour Pullenvale, has gained a reputation as an elite semi-rural suburb renowned for its many luxurious and large homes built on acreage.

The limited number of lots in the area will ensure Brookfield retains its status as one of Brisbane's premium suburbs.

On the northern foothills of Mt Elphinstone, Brookfield boasts acreage-style living as its main attraction.

The suburb also boasts a strong level of new housing activity in recent years. During 1998 alone, an estimated 65 houses were constructed with much of the building activity occurring on the eastern side of Rafting Ground Road.

Brookfield homes are predominantly owner-occupied. However a small rental market operates in the suburb.

The suburb has several recreational facilities including its own showground. There is a community shopping centre located at nearby Kenmore village. Regular bus services to the City operate to the suburb.

There are educational facilities in the region including Brisbane Independent primary, Kenmore High and Kenmore Christian College as well as several primary schools including both state and Catholic in surrounding suburbs.

According to the 2006 Census there were 3,779 people living in the suburb.
